Canadian Prime Minister: The international community is in the midst of a rift

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke at the Davos Forum regarding tensions in the international arena following Trump's statements about annexing Greenland and imposing tariffs on several NATO countries.
According to foreign media, Carney said that countries like Canada have thrived under the rules-based international order for decades and "have benefited from its predictability."
But according to Carney, the country knew that the strongest would be "excluded when appropriate" from these rules.
"We largely avoided highlighting the gaps between rhetoric and reality. This deal no longer works," Carney continued.
"Let me be direct - we are in the midst of a disruption, not a transition," he added.
He adds: “The question for middle powers like Canada is not whether they should adapt to the new reality, we should do so.”
"The question is whether we adapt by simply building higher walls, or whether we can do something more ambitious," Carney said.
Regarding the threat of US tariffs, Carney says: “Canada strongly opposes tariffs on Greenland and calls for focused talks to achieve our shared objectives of security and prosperity in the Arctic.”
