Kosovo, suspect extradited from Albania for cultivating 1259 cannabis plants, prosecution requests detention

The Basic Prosecution Office in Gjakova, Department for Serious Crimes, has announced that it has filed a request with the Basic Court of Gjakova to impose a 30-day detention measure on the defendant N.Sh., a citizen of Albania.

He is suspected of the criminal offense of "Cultivation of hashish plants, cocaine bushes or cannabis plants", according to Article 272 paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

According to the Prosecution, it is suspected that N.Sh., in collaboration with the other defendant O.Sh., from an unverified date until June 19, 2024, cultivated approximately 1,259 narcotic plants of the cannabis sativa type in three plots in the village of Panorc, Municipality of Malisheva.

The defendant had been on the run since the time of the crime. He was arrested on an international arrest warrant and then extradited from Albania to Kosovo. The prosecution has requested his detention, stating that there is a well-founded suspicion of his involvement in this illegal activity.
