Serbian List returns to leadership of 4 municipalities in Kosovo, elected mayors take office today

Today, the four elected mayors of northern Kosovo municipalities will take office. At 11:00, inaugural sessions will be held in Zvecan, Leposavić, Zubin Potok and North Mitrovica, where after three years, the Serbian List returns to the leadership of the northern municipalities.
Milan Radojevic will be the mayor of North Mitrovica. Dragisa Milovic will be the mayor of Zvecan, Milos Perovic will be the mayor of Zubin-Potok, and Zoran Todic will be the mayor of Leposavic.
The mayors of northern municipalities from the Serb List resigned on November 5, 2022, in opposition to the government's decision on license plates, at a time when Serbs resigned from all institutions.
On April 23, 2023, early elections were held in the four northern municipalities, which were boycotted by the Serbian community and resulted in the election of mayors from the Albanian community.
Ilir Peci in Zveçan, Lulzim Hetemi in Leposaviq, Izmir Zeqiri in Zubin Potok and Erden Atiq in North Mitrovica received their mandates in May 2023, and went to office on May 26 with police assistance.
This resulted in violent protests by Serbs, including attacks on KFOR, Kosovo Police, and journalists.
Meanwhile, in the hall where the inaugural session of the new mayor and assembly members of the Zveçan municipality will be held, there are continuous patrols by KFOR, EULEX, and Kosovo police are stationed in front of the municipal building.
