AAK confirms Haradinaj as candidate for prime minister

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has nominated party leader Ramush Haradinaj as candidate for Prime Minister of Kosovo in the December 28 snap elections.

Haradinaj will also be the candidate for the December elections, as his party will compete with the slogan "By your side".

He announced through a Facebook post that the AAK General Council meeting also approved the list of 110 candidates for deputies, as well as the election program.

According to him, the program is built on three main pillars: "sustainability and heritage, well-being and economic development, and security and Euro-Atlantic integration."

"The electoral alliance is launched 'By Your Side', for the restoration of normality in the country, development and well-being, for membership in NATO and the EU, for the restoration of strategic partnership with allies led by the US, for the security and preservation of the State as an indivisible one," Haradinaj wrote on Facebook.

In the past, Haradinaj has served twice as Prime Minister of Kosovo.

In the last parliamentary elections held on February 9 this year, AAK competed in coalition with the Social Democratic Initiative and several other parties. The coalition managed to win 66,256 votes or 7.06 percent. Out of eight MPs, five were from AAK and three from Fatmir Limaj's Social Democratic Initiative.

So far, other Albanian parties have also nominated their candidates for prime minister. The Vetëvendosje Movement has nominated party leader Albin Kurti, the Democratic Party will compete with the new party leader, Bedri Hamza, while the Democratic League of Kosovo has nominated party leader Lumir Abdixhiku for the post of prime minister.
