President Trump's administration sues University of California for "anti-Semitism"

The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), accusing the institution of alleged discrimination against Jewish and Israeli employees, due to an antisemitic and hostile work environment.
According to the lawsuit, following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, some Jewish and Israeli employees were forced to take leave, work remotely, or even leave their jobs to avoid the hostile environment.
The Justice Department states that UCLA “failed to prevent and correct discriminatory and harassing conduct,” violating civil rights law.
The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles is part of a series of lawsuits by the Trump administration against universities in the US and reflects tensions with authorities in California, a state run by Democrats.
Anti-Israel protests took place at several American universities, including UCLA, to protest Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip following the Hamas attack. Various Jewish organizations and demonstrators criticized the Trump administration for confusing criticism of Israel's actions with anti-Semitism, viewing them as support for Hamas.
