Putin: Ukraine is sabotaging peace, the West cannot defeat Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reacted to the fourth anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine, accusing Kiev of sabotaging diplomatic efforts and warning the West of the consequences of what he called "nuclear threats."
In a televised speech, Putin claimed that Ukraine is trying to disrupt negotiations brokered by the United States.
"We are talking about the possible bombing of our gas system under the Black Sea. Ukraine is not calming down. They are trying to provoke incidents to destroy everything that has been achieved through negotiations," he declared.
Putin also commented on reports - which have not been officially confirmed - that several Western countries, including France and Great Britain, may supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons.
"They understand what this could lead to," the Russian president said, hinting at serious consequences in the event of such a scenario.
He added that, in his opinion, the West is obsessed with the idea of defeating Russia, but will not achieve a "strategic defeat" to Moscow.
Putin also accused Ukraine, with the support of Western intelligence, of organizing terrorist attacks on Russian territory.
"Last year there was an increase in crimes of a terrorist nature. There is no doubt that the Ukrainian special services and their foreign supporters are behind most of them," he declared, citing attacks on infrastructure, institutions and civilian objects.
At the end of the speech, the Kremlin leader warned that those who, according to him, "push Russia too far" will face consequences.
