Drug gang busted in Spain, Albanians sentenced to prison

A criminal organization involved in cocaine trafficking has been busted in Spain , with six of its members sentenced to prison, including Albanian citizens.

The decision was given by the Provincial Court of Castellón , which described the defendants as part of a "stable and long-term" clan that operated in the provinces of Valencia and Castellón .

Sentences range from two months to six and a half years in prison, for crimes against public health and involvement in a criminal organization.

The two leaders of the group, both Albanian citizens, were sentenced to six and a half years in prison and fines amounting to one million euros each. The court has ordered that they be deported from Spain after serving two years of their sentences.

Investigations revealed that the network had well-defined roles, including providing drugs, transporting them and storing them in rented properties. A Spanish national, who played a key role in transporting the narcotics, was sentenced to three years and 11 months in prison and a €400,000 fine.

According to reports, in one of the key episodes of the case, police caught one of the convicts on the AP-7 highway transporting seven kilograms of cocaine, hidden in the trunk of his car.

During the searches of the homes of those involved, other quantities of drugs, equipment for its processing and around 26 thousand euros in cash were seized. The total value of the seized cocaine is estimated at over 726 thousand euros on the black market.

The final decision also provides for the confiscation of seized assets, including vehicles, phones and money, which will be used in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.
