"It's an urgent matter!" - Balluk's mandate, Bardhi: Prosecutors make it clear that any delay could jeopardize evidence and intimidation of witnesses

The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has revealed to the media the discussions from today's meeting of the Mandates and Immunity Council, where SPAK's request for the lifting of the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku was discussed.
According to MP Gazment Bardhi, the five opposition members requested the interruption of the meeting, with the argument of guaranteeing the right to defense and full familiarization with the investigative materials.
The opposition proposed that the deputies be provided with the full documentation and that the meeting be resumed on Monday morning, December 22, to hear representatives of the Special Prosecution Office and MP Balluku herself.
He emphasized that the request to postpone the next meeting for about a month, approximately January 20, aims to give the majority time to familiarize themselves with the evidence and assess the level of responsibility and political risk that, according to him, is associated with the issue.
"The scenario was revealed, which is actually known to anyone involved in politics, that Rama has not decided what to do with Balluk and is giving himself time to familiarize himself with the evidence and the extent of his responsibility and how much data there is about him in that file and to what level the threat or danger that Balluk's release poses, as they requested that the next meeting be in a month, around January 20," said Bardhi.
On the other hand, he said that SPAK prosecutors, present at the meeting, emphasized that this is an urgent matter and any delay in reviewing the request could jeopardize the evidence and that Balluku could intimidate witnesses.
"The SPAK prosecutors make it clear that this is an urgent matter, the prosecution said, and that any delay could jeopardize evidence and intimidation of witnesses ," he said.
Bardhi: Within the framework of the right to defend oneself, of course also of the deputies and members to be familiar with the full materials, the 5 opposition members requested that the meeting be interrupted, the deputies be provided with the full material and reconvene to hear the Prosecution and the defendant Balluku on Monday morning.
But, unfortunately, the scenario that is actually known to anyone involved in politics was revealed, that Rama has not decided what to do with Balluk and is giving himself time to familiarize himself with the evidence and the extent of his responsibility and how much data there is about him in that file and to what level the threat or danger that Balluk's release brings, so much so that they requested that the next meeting be in a month, around January 20.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, the SPAK prosecutors, whom I thank for their professionalism during today's meeting but also for their patience in our debates, on how the Speaker of the Assembly should respect the law. It makes clear that this is an urgent matter, the prosecution stated, and that any delay could jeopardize the evidence and intimidation of witnesses.
