French farmers "land" at Macron's house: cabbages, tires and a

Since the early hours of Friday, December 19, French farmers have gathered in front of the vacation home of President Emmanuel Macron and his wife in Touquet, holding a symbolic protest against high taxes and agricultural policies.

With tractors, banners, cabbages, tires and even a coffin, farmers have been protesting what they call “the death of the rural world.” In front of the villa guarded by security forces, protesters threw carts full of cabbages and tires, while banners read: “Eat French food” and “Stop taxes.”

The protest comes after the announcement by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to postpone the signing of the EU-Mercosur agreement until January. The farmers' confederation FNSEA described this decision as insufficient and called on its members to continue the protests.

For several days, hundreds of farmers in various areas of France, especially in the southwest, have organized road blockades and demonstrations, while some of them have even gone to Brussels to express their dissatisfaction with European policies.
