Arben Malaj: Veliaj is not a political prisoner, I am coming forward as a witness for his schemes with the oligarchs against landowners
Former SP minister, Arben Malaj, has commented on the request of Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, to dismiss the prosecutor in his case, Ols Dado, claiming that his appointment in 2008 is invalid.
In a Facebook post, Malaj writes that Veliaj is neither an "angel" nor a "political prisoner," while accusing him of attacking all of Edi Rama's opponents within the Socialist Party.
According to him, the mayor of Tirana is one of the characters who has committed the most "sins" in his political career, starting from terrorizing poor villagers who sold vegetables on the street to forcibly evicting residents of 5 May from their homes.
Malaj says he is ready to testify about a scheme that Veliaj used with oligarchs to take land from his brother, who died while awaiting a building permit for a wooden building he wanted to build on his land.
Erion Veliaj has the right to be presumed innocent and I have publicly defended this constitutional right. But Veliaj is neither an "angel" nor a "political prisoner".
Veliaj is not doing well to insult a prosecutor with the metaphor of a "donkey", as the violation of legal criteria and measures should be verified by justice institutions, not by Veliaj's humiliations.
Ok, but if the prosecutor is changed and the charges remain, what is left for Veliaj?
Veliaj is not an angel because: Veliaj and "Mjaft" were Rama's voluntary slaves from day one.
He misused "Mjaft" against anyone Rama declared an enemy, including me.
Veliaj has misused every financial resource to build his superficial glory.
Veliaj hid the transparency of millions of euros in funds at "Mjaft", stating that he had lost his laptop.
But the legal actions of funding sources and expenditures should be investigated.
If it is financed by black funds, it is done only for black purposes.
Veliaj terrorized poor villagers who sold fruits and vegetables for survival, a practice that has no place in any corner of the world, not even in New York.
Veliaj, together with the State Police, forcibly evicted the residents of Astir and "May 5" in the dead of winter, making them cry and curse, with children in their grandmothers' arms, or inhaling poisonous gas.
Veliaj, pampered by his mentor who exploited him to the core, created an "army" of about 36 advisors who were paid by Albanian taxes.
They, mainly, had portals and raised Veliaj to the sky, ruthlessly fighting every critical individual.
Kurtz, the former Chancellor of Austria, just built a similar scheme to distort the voter's vote, lost his position as party leader, lost his position as Chancellor, and was tried and convicted.
Veliaj shamelessly attacked every critical voice, publicly accusing them of "being like this because they had asked him for a building permit and he had not given it to them."
This was a callous attack on my brother, who unfortunately passed away a year ago, even under the stress of his own arrogance and that of the urban planning director.
When the municipality violated every legal deadline, I requested a meeting with Veliaj alone.
The meeting took place face-to-face with Veliaj, who had also brought the urban planner.
Without any communication ethics, when I said to him: "Respond, because you have a legal obligation to do so and I will file a legal complaint in court," he replied with contemptuous arrogance: "Go wherever you want."
Then I turned to him and told him that what the people were saying was true, that there was a land mafia in your municipality.
You block the legal owners during the day, while your oligarchs at night pressure them to buy the land at prices much lower than the market.
Out of respect for the soul of my deceased brother, I am willing to testify.
The media close to Veliaj slandered that my brother had requested a tower.
Lies always have short legs.
I immediately published on social media the request that my brother had made to Veliaj, asking only for him to put up a temporary wooden structure so that his land would not be occupied.
My position is not only fueled by this specific case, but the specific case supports the arguments why Veliaj is not an angel.
Repeated message for Veliaj:
STOP humiliating prosecutors and judges and any critics of you.
Be careful with the donkey/donkey metaphor, as it will come back to haunt you.
The Rebirthers, of which you are a part as the "good soldier Švejk", will be morally responsible in the face of the criminalization of an important part of public institutions and administration.
Deal with the accusations, EV, not with the donkeys, because they, even according to Dritëro Agolli, have long been put before the horse during the Renaissance:
"In my country and in your country, a fool, a madman;"
In my country, in your country, the horse is tied, the donkey is foaled;
"They put the horse behind the donkey and the donkey before the horse."
