Macron announces retirement from politics

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that he intends to leave politics in 2027, at the end of his second five-year term.
During a visit to Cyprus, he stated that he "wasn't in politics before and won't be after it either," implying that he doesn't plan to continue political activity after the presidency.
Macron added that at this stage of his term, the biggest challenge is to maintain the balance between defending his achievements and acknowledging those that "have not worked."
Meanwhile, discussion has already begun in France about the 2027 presidential election. Potential candidates from the left, center, and far right are preparing for the race, while trying to create a more appealing image for the public.
Experts believe that Macron's statement may be part of a political strategy, to build the narrative of his legacy and leave space for the successor of his political camp.
However, he remains active in the international arena, where he continues to have a prominent role in global issues such as relations with the US, the war in Ukraine, and European politics.
Some analysts do not rule out the possibility that after 2027, Macron will return in another political form or to an international post, although he himself has so far denied such a thing.
