Kurti: New elections are not a solution, they will harm Kosovo's stability

Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has commented on the country's political situation and stressed that organizing new elections is an unnecessary and costly step that would delay Kosovo's development.
In a reaction on social media, Kurti states that new elections, according to him, are not a solution, but will harm the stability of Kosovo.
According to him, organizing new elections would cost Kosovo at least 10 million euros, while adding that the Republic of Kosovo needs the smooth running of institutions and institutional stability, not further damage.
"Dear citizens, After 10 months of blockade during the year 2025, in the elections of December 28 of the year we left behind, the people of Kosovo spoke more clearly than ever before in the post-war period. It is the obligation of every political entity and party leader to behave in accordance with that expressed will.
The 10th Legislature has elected the Presidency of the Assembly and the Government. It should now elect the President and avoid elections because they are unnecessary and waste time and Kosovo's budget funds. Organizing new elections would cost Kosovo at least 10 million euros, then due to the lack of functioning of the Assembly we would lose many tens of millions of euros from the international community, while the results of the new elections could be more or less similar to the existing ones.
Since the main problem remains the need for 80 MPs for a quorum on the issue of the President, the elections will not bring a solution. The election result must be accepted and respected, because it represents the will of the citizens and the basis of democracy. The VETËVENDOSJE! (LVV) Movement has secured the majority of votes and MPs, therefore it demands that this result be taken into account in political processes and decision-making. If we go to the elections in June, and LVV with its partners (GUXO, Alternative for Minorities) does not reach 80 MPs, then we will go to the elections again in the fall or winter. Who benefits from this?!
In accordance with the outcome and circumstances, I have made continuous invitations to the opposition parties, as well as continuously offered alternative solutions. So far, without success.
I made an offer for co-government with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). This offer included: the post of deputy prime minister and four ministries. It was rejected.
I also proposed another alternative: switching the positions between the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, LDK would take the position of Speaker of the Assembly, the current Speaker would become Deputy Speaker. In this case LVV would not have the three high state positions as they had complained about until now. This was also rejected.
Kam bërë një ofertë konkrete edhe ndaj Partisë Demokratike të Kosovës (PDK) për të zhbllokuar situatën politike. Në këtë ofertë propozova një rrokadë mes Kryetares aktuale Haxhiu dhe përfaqësuesve të PDK-së, ku PDK mund të marrë pozitën e Kryetarit të Kuvendit. Pra, Kryetarja Albulena Haxhiu të bëhej nënkryetare e Kuvendit, ndërsa Bedri Hamza ose Vlora Çitaku të merrnin drejtimin e Kuvendit. Ky do të ishte një koncesion i madh që e bëjmë ne që Albulena Haxhiu t’ia lirojë vendin Bedri Hamzës a Vlora Çitakut.
Mos të harrojmë 4 veta në LVV kanë më shumë vota se kryetari i PDK-së: përveç meje, edhe Glauk Konjufca, Albulena Haxhiu si dhe Hekuran Murati i cili po ashtu ka më shumë vota sesa Bedri Hamza. Ndërkaq nëse e krahasojmë me LDK-në, 10 veta nga LVV janë më të votuar sesa kryetari i LDK-së.
Të dashur qytetarë, Republika e Kosovës ka nevojë për mbarëvajtje të institucioneve dhe stabilitet institucional.
Ne kemi shkuar me kandidat nga subjekti ynë kur ndodheshim fare pranë mesnatës ndërmjet 5 dhe 6 marsit me kandidatin e parë dhe të dytë, vetëm pasi nuk arritëm në një kandidat konsensual dhe vetëm pasi nuk kishte asnjë propozim të vetëm nga ana e subjekteve opozitare.
Propozuam kandidatin Glauk Konjufca, i cili është njeri i dytë më i votuar në historinë e Kosovës dhe Dr. Fatmire Mulhaxha-Kollçaku.
Mbi të gjitha, sërish u ofrua edhe një zgjidhje tjetër, ku vet z. Konjufca deklaroi se mund të tërhiqet nëse paraqitet një figurë konsensuale. Pavarësisht kësaj, nga partitë opozitare, sot e asaj dite, nuk kanë paraqitur asnjë emër për kandidat për president. As në takime me mua dhe as publikisht për juve.
Ne duhet të kemi parasysh dhe respektojmë vullnetin e popullit të shprehur përmes rezultatit zgjedhor: LVV ka 51.1% të votave apo 57 deputetë, ndërsa mazhoranca jonë arrin në 66 deputetë.
Demokracia duhet të bazohet në vullnetin e popullit dhe në rezultatin zgjedhor, jo në marrëveshje politike që e anashkalojnë dhe shkelin atë. Pa respektimin e vullnetit të qytetarëve nuk mund të ketë marrëveshje politike. Ndërkaq, qëllimi është të shmangen zgjedhjet e përsëritura dhe të sigurohet stabiliteti institucional. Me rezultatin aktual zgjedhor, asnjë parti opozitare nuk ka numra të mjaftueshëm për të propozuar një kandidat për president pa bashkëpunim ato me njëra-tjetrën.
Kësisoj, janë bërë oferta për kompromis ndaj partive opozitare, duke u ofruar pozita të rëndësishme në institucione, me qëllim që të arrihet marrëveshje dhe të shmanget bllokimi institucional. Fatkeqësisht, këto oferta gjeneroze janë refuzuar anipse janë shumë të favorshme në raport me numrin e deputetëve që ka opozita.
