Greek police, also known as the Hellenic FBI, raided a large number of brothels in Athens and made 12 arrests.
The media reported that at least 6 brothels were raided.
Specifically, the Greek FBI conducted searches in 6 brothels in the Athens area with the aim of identifying victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, where a total of 12 people (11 women and one man) were arrested, accused of violating the seals.
This, after it was verified that all brothels had previous closure orders and lacked licenses.
In addition, 4 of those arrested were found to not have legal residence documents in the country, which further complicates the case file.
As the investigation revealed, the brothels in question had been repeatedly sealed following decisions by the competent municipal authority, while during the checks, the amount of 760 euros was also seized.
The arrested are being taken to the competent prosecutor's office, while the procedure for re-sealing the brothels is underway.
