BBC: Essential exports remain blocked due to closure of Strait of Hormuz

The disruption of oil and gas supplies through the Strait of Hormuz due to the US-Israeli war with Iran has significantly increased global energy prices, according to the BBC.

Petrol has already gone up and heating bills in the UK are almost certain to rise.

But it's not just fuel that's been affected by the conflict. A host of chemicals, gases, and other vital products enter international supply chains through the Strait of Hormuz.

BBC Verify has found that the price of a range of goods - from food to smartphones and medicines - could be affected, as the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen from over 100 a day before the war, to just five.
