Will peace be achieved?/ German Foreign Minister: US and Iran will meet very soon in Pakistan

The United States and Iran are expected to hold talks in Pakistan soon in an attempt to ease tensions in the ongoing conflict. German Foreign Minister Johann Vandevoll said that there have already been indirect contacts between the parties and that preparations for a direct meeting are underway. “Based on my information, indirect contacts have taken place and a direct meeting is expected to take place very soon in Pakistan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that his country has been mediating messages between the parties, with the support of Turkey and Egypt, but did not give details on whether a formal meeting has been finalized. Meanwhile, Iran has refused to negotiate with US President Donald Trump's top envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, accusing them of "backstabbing" after the airstrikes in Tehran, just hours after a round of talks was scheduled for late February.

In this context, US Vice President JD Vance is being seen as a potential negotiator for a new round of dialogue. The developments come after Donald Trump postponed plans to strike Iranian energy facilities by 10 days, setting a new deadline of April 6 for reaching an agreement. Meanwhile, the United States is considering sending about 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East, supported by fighter jets and armored vehicles. These reinforcements would be added to the 5,000 Marines and 2,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division, who have already been ordered to deploy to the Gulf region.
