Greece gives good news for its citizens, from April 1st the minimum wage will increase to 920 euros gross

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, announced that the gross minimum wage will reach 920 euros starting from April 1.
This is the sixth consecutive increase since 2019, where last year alone the minimum wage increased by 40 euros per month or about 4.5%.
The government emphasizes that this decision aims to support citizens' incomes in the face of the high cost of living. The increase in the minimum wage also affects a number of payments and benefits related to it, including seniority and three-year periods.
Meanwhile, social benefits include the supplement for married people, which amounts to 10% of the minimum wage, as well as social assistance for the unemployed, which increases to 564 euros from 540 euros previously.
There will also be an impact on maternity leave, parental leave, employment programs, and seasonal benefits for private sector employees.
In addition to the private sector, the government has also foreseen a horizontal increase of 40 euros for all public sector employees.
According to official data, since 2019 the minimum wage has increased from 650 euros to 920 euros, a cumulative increase of over 40%.
Meanwhile, opposition parties and unions consider this increase insufficient in the face of inflation and the rising cost of living. While other details for different categories of employees are expected to be given at the press conference after 15:30, local time.
