Skier Lindsey Vonn crashes, taken to hospital by helicopter

Just a week after suffering a serious knee injury, Lindsey Vonn's dream of competing in the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Games came to an end. The American ski champion lost control just seconds after taking off, crashing hard to the ground.

Everyone fell silent for a minute and coach Aksel Lund Svindal looked very concerned. The race was stopped for more than 10 minutes before Vonn was transported by helicopter to the Codivilla Hospital in Cortina for medical checks.

Vonn, unlucky, has undergone dozens of surgeries throughout her skiing career. We recall that she was one of the favorites for the gold medal.
