Gelatinous halva with almonds
Ingredients :
1 liter of water
800 gr sugar
100 ml sunflower oil
240 gr cornstarch
1 pinch of salt
150 gr lightly roasted almonds
Preparation :
Place a non-stick pan on the stove and let it heat up very high. In a bowl, whisk the water with the sugar until well mixed. Add the sunflower oil and cornstarch. Stir until the starch is completely dissolved and add the salt. Add a little caramel sugar to the pan and mix with a wooden spoon. Gradually add the rest of the sugar, stirring until it melts and turns golden. When the caramel is ready, remove from the heat and pour into the mixture in the bowl. Stir well and transfer the entire mixture to the pan over the stove. Cook for 5–10 minutes, stirring constantly, until the caramel is completely dissolved. When the halva thickens and takes on a gelatinous consistency, add the roasted almonds. Stir constantly and turn the mixture until it turns golden on both sides. When the halva is ready, transfer it to a baking sheet, spread it evenly, sprinkle with a little sugar, and place in the oven for a few minutes.
