Former Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak announced that, following the publication of his communications with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, he is resigning from his position as advisor to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Slovak media report .
Lajcak said he condemns the crimes committed by Epstein, adding that if he had known in the past the seriousness and full extent of Epstein's actions, there would have been no communication.
"Words and actions are two different things. However, from today's perspective, we evaluate individual actions differently, and even a normally insignificant conversation is put into a different context ," Lajcak said.
Regarding the revealed communication with Epstein, he said it was clear that it was informal and light, without any real content. She claims that she was never offered sexual services, never participated in them, never witnessed them and never knew about them.
"I am ready to confirm this claim in any way. As a professional diplomat, I am not so naive as to commit actions that could lead to my discredit ," Lajcak said.
