Lumir Abdixhiku survives no-confidence vote in LDK Assembly

Lumir Abdixhiku has survived the vote of confidence he requested in the Assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), media in Kosovo report.

The Assembly held its proceedings behind closed doors. Abdixhiku offered the party Assembly his resignation from the position of chairman, following the results of the early parliamentary elections on December 28.

In this election process, the LDK won 13.24 percent of the vote – the second worst result since the war. However, some party figures have demanded his irrevocable resignation, not agreeing to a vote of confidence.

Among them is Hykmete Bajrami, who has irrevocably resigned from the position of party vice president and has requested the same from Abdixhiku.

" I have chosen to come before you, not because it is easy for me, but because I feel it is necessary, because I have always believed that a person is not measured when everything goes well, but when he has to speak even when his words tremble," Abdixhiku said during a speech held on Saturday before the party assembly.
