It will take days to sift through the millions of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein released yesterday by the Department of Justice and to understand how much new information they reveal about Epstein's relationships with the multitude of businessmen, politicians and celebrities with whom he has been associated for years, from current and future US presidents onward.

But now, just hours after their publication, the unpublished documents add new parts to the personal history of the financier, who committed suicide in a New York jail in August 2019.

In the “Epstein Library” section of the Justice Department’s website, you can search for individual words among millions of published pages. And yesterday, the first word that many people typed was “Trump.” And the name of the president, an early friend of the financier, appears about 3,200 times. In many cases, these are articles about the current president, sent or received by e-mail from Epstein, in other cases, the financier mentions him in messages exchanged with other users. However, there is also a document that was first published, then redacted by the Justice Department and then made readable again to the public. It is a list of reports received by the FBI with accusations against Trump and Epstein, some dating back as far as 35 years, many of which relate to sexual harassment and abuse. But the document does not specify whether the “tips” were ever verified.

Among the pages is an account of an interrogation of Epstein in September 2016. The questions were about his history with former President Bill Clinton. Epstein decided to exercise his right to remain silent on each question.

Elon Musk: "When will the craziest party be?"

"It's time to drop the bomb: Trump is in the Epstein Files. This is why they haven't been released," these were the words of Elon Musk on June 6 last year, at the height of the tension with the American president. From the documents released yesterday, however, it appears that Musk also frequented the pedophile financier. This is the opposite of what the Tesla boss said, namely that Epstein tried to approach him, but he refused any contact.

In an email from November 2012, Musk informs Epstein that he will soon be in the Caribbean and asks: “What day is the craziest party on your island?” In December 2013, in a similar message, Musk writes: “I will be in this area in the next few days, what would be a good time to visit you?” Other email exchanges from that time between their assistants also reveal an attempt to arrange a meeting at SpaceX headquarters in California.

An email from Epstein to himself. A kind of memo, or perhaps a rough draft of a message to be carefully reread, sent in July 2013. A lengthy lawsuit against Bill Gates, guilty of betraying Epstein's friendship. Two pieces in particular shame the Microsoft founder. Epstein says Gates begged him "with tears in his eyes" to delete several emails about his "sexually transmitted diseases" and asked him to provide "antibiotics to secretly give to Melinda," his ex-wife. Then he adds details, saying that he "helped Bill get medication to deal with the consequences of sex with Russian girls" and that he "enabled his illicit encounters with married women."

Trump's Commerce Secretary

New details are also emerging about Epstein’s relationship with Howard Lutnick, Trump’s Commerce Secretary. Lutnick, who was Epstein’s former neighbor, said he broke up with the pedophile financier in 2005 because he found him “disgusting.” It has now been revealed that in December 2012, he contacted Epstein about visiting his island. A few days later, Epstein sent him an email: “It was nice seeing you.” And again, in November 2015, Lutnick wrote Epstein to invite him to a fundraiser in support of Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy. It is not clear whether the financier accepted.

Another document reveals that in 2009, Epstein sent $10,000 to the partner of Lord Peter Mandelson, then the British Trade Secretary. Mandelson was appointed ambassador to the US in 2024 but was sacked last September when it emerged he had sent messages of support to Epstein after his conviction.
