At the height of the abandonment even by the youngest opposition parties in Albania, Sali Berisha seems to have ordered an attack today against all his former "traitors" at the head of the DP, from Bamir Topi, Lulzim Basha, Astrit Patozi and Enkelejd Alibeaj. He made no attempt to find any argument, but simply tried to compare them with himself when he was a communist in 1990 and decided to break away from the Party of Labor. I don't know why he found the worst example, which is actually against him, not against his former collaborators, but apparently he is interested in keeping the spirit of division in the DP burning against anyone who has rejected his family's party.

The comparison with his "dissidence" in 1990, besides being a comparison with a lie, is against Berisha even if it were true that Berisha was a dissident in 1990.

Berisha began to stutter in the fall of 1990 and has written two of his articles in "Drita" and "Bashkimi". All he talks about is the pluralism of thought as "in the towers of the Highlands", where people listen to each other. There is neither dissent nor any attempt to break away from the Party of Labor, but an attempt to stand out within the Party of Labor as someone who is ready, if necessary, to change something from the previous Stalinism. Even on December 11, 1990, he was an official envoy of Ramiz Ali and he never handed over the Party of Labor card, not even symbolically.

Bamir Topi, Lulzim Basha, Patozi or Alibeaj have rejected Berisha by leaving his party and have shown no sign of wanting to return and reform his party. They are very clear that it is like a coffin with an embalmed person inside who, when opened, decays within a minute like any corpse that takes in air.

They simply went about their business, rejecting Sali Berisha and his takeover of the DP.

Berisha is worried about this very thing, about the fact that he has made the DP an unenviable party for those who know it and have fled it. And there are many of them. For 35 years, Berisha has removed every founder and every leader of the DP. No former senior leader of the DP since 1991 is no longer in the DP because of Sali Berisha. And they may not have a party or political activity, but they represent precisely that silent electorate of the former DP that rejects Sali Berisha and does not vote for him, leaving him on the streets like a miserable old man.

At the height of despair, when Berisha is being rejected by everyone who is asking him to join him, he thinks of those who have rejected him.

In fact, their act is the only intellectual act, like all those who have rejected Berisha within the DP. Sali Berisha is the usurper of the DP and his rejection is an intellectual act. Pseudo-intellectuals are those who try to retouch the portrait of Berisha, from whom now, in addition to having to clean the mud of corruption, blood stains and the shame of being "non grata", you also have to find someone to explain that when he is foolish and says nonsense, these enemies have cast a spell on him.

The only intellectual act that someone within the DP can do is precisely to reject Sali Berisha's family power in the DP, just as making an intellectual gesture in the dictatorship was to reject Enver Hoxha.

Sali Berisha never made that gesture, not even a few months after the dictatorship fell. Those who attack Berisha have at least done their duty as intellectuals within the DP. They have rejected his family party and have left him today among a bunch of scoundrels, who not with intellectuals who cannot compete, but not even with pavilion no. 5 in Tirana. With them he can reign as long as he lives, but as the king of fools that Albania abhors.
