Found guilty, Rrogozhina Mayor Edison Memolla surrenders to police

The mayor of Rrogozhina, Edison Memolla, who was found guilty of active corruption in elections committed in collusion and sentenced to 1 year in prison by the Special Court of Appeal, has surrendered to the police.

As an additional punishment, the court also revoked Memolla's right to hold public office for 5 years.

Edison Memolla was accused by the Special Prosecution Office of having influenced electrician Blerim Xhamani, with the aim of preventing the latter from cutting off the electricity supply to a debtor subscriber, in order for his wife to vote in his favor in the local by-elections on March 6, 2022, when he competed under the Socialist Party banner.
