Balkan Barometer: 1 in 3 Albanians lives with the anxiety of financial

One in three Albanians considers the country's economy to be an uncertain environment. This is the concern raised by the latest report from the Regional Cooperation Council, which highlights a deep gap between official growth figures and what citizens feel in their pockets.

According to the latest Balkan Barometer survey, 33.5% of Albanians declare that they do not feel secure in their country's economy.

For experts, the fact that a third of the population does not trust the country's economy remains the main source of emigration, making the roads of Europe the only alternative for those who do not find security at home.

But Albania is not alone in this pessimism about economic security in the Western Balkans. Bosnia and Herzegovina leads the list with 33.9%, followed by Serbia with 33.7%. These three countries form what experts call the “triangle of economic anxiety” in the Balkans.

The situation is different in Kosovo. Despite having a smaller economy in volume, its citizens are the most optimistic in the region. Only 16.8% of Kosovars say they feel economically insecure, a figure that is half that of Albania.

Montenegro and North Macedonia are positioned in the middle, with an uncertainty level ranging from 23 to 24%.
