Laporta resigns as Barcelona president

As expected, Joan Laporta resigns from the position of President of Barcelona. Laporta made this decision to make it possible for him to run for the elections scheduled for March 15, 2026.

"I'm leaving looking forward to seeing you all again. The Barça fans are happy, we've regained our joy. I'm leaving the club in better shape than it was five years ago. We've had to make some difficult decisions and considering how everything has gone, we feel proud."

"The players are the architects of the successes of the last five years; there are many titles. Some have escaped us, but we will leave this for the next years if the members vote for us. 'Camp Nou' is the biggest legacy project in the history of the club," Laporta said on Monday.

Other candidacies in the elections at Barcelona's home are names like Victor Font, Marc Ciria, Xavi Vilajoana and Joan Camprubi Montal.
