Court hearing for Balluk's right-hand man, Evis Berberi, postponed

The court hearing at the Special Court for the former director of the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH), Evis Berberi, has been postponed to February 9th.
Berberi, one of the closest subordinates of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, was arrested on March 14, 2024 on charges of corruption, money laundering, and concealment of assets.
Belinda Balluku is also accused by SPAK, while the prosecution has requested her suspension from duty and then authorization for her arrest, within the framework of the same investigative file.
According to the Special Prosecution Office, the former head of the ARA is suspected of being involved in corruption schemes related to at least 8 public tenders, with a total value of millions of euros.
Berberi, initially in his position as Director of the Energy Efficiency Agency, has developed three procurement procedures worth around 1.2 million euros, which were won by the company "DAAM", formally run by Valter Begaj, but which according to investigations was indirectly owned by Berberi himself.
Also, during the period when Berberi headed the ARA, the same company won three other tenders worth around 1 million euros.
Investigations have revealed that the company "DAAM" was used as a channel for the transfer of large sums of money from another company "Net Group", owned by entrepreneur Begaj, through various financial transactions.
