German Chancellor Merz: Iranian regime's days are numbered

He cited the tens of thousands of casualties during recent anti-government protests as evidence that the mullahs' regime rules through fear and repression.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump has increased pressure on Tehran, warning of serious consequences if Iran does not cooperate.  “If Iran does not sit down at the negotiating table, the next attack will be much worse,”  Trump wrote, referring to US strikes on Iranian nuclear targets last June. He stressed that the goal is to reach a fair agreement, without nuclear weapons, underlining that “time is of the essence.”

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions have been undertaken by Iran and Turkey. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, where they discussed ways to avoid escalating the situation amid domestic protests and threats of military intervention.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the two ministers rejected external threats and interference, stressing the importance of cooperation in maintaining regional peace and stability. The conversation was also confirmed by Turkish authorities.
