Tomor Dosti, two-time Democratic Party MP, passes away at the age of 96.
Dosti was born in Gjirokastra, in 1930. The son of former minister Hasan Dosti. After the escape of his father and brother, he and his brothers and sisters, after their mother was shot by the Germans on the day of their departure from Tirana, were persecuted. He was arrested in 1953 and sentenced to 20 years in prison "for attempted escape".
He was sentenced in 1953 to 25 years in prison. He served his sentence in Burrel among the personalities of Albania. After prison, he went through the ordeal of exile with his family.
In 1991, he joined the Democratic Party, making his political and family credibility in southern Albania available to him, creating with Pjetër Arbnori, Leka Tota, Uran Butka, Ajet Rusi and his brother Leka, a right-wing profile of the new party, with national morality, unknown for 45 years.
He was the vice-president of the Democratic Party in its early years. He was elected as a member of parliament in two legislatures, 1991-1996, and in 1998 he retired from active politics.
