American expert and professor Serwer: Vučić is waiting for the opportunity to

American professor and Balkan expert Daniel Serwer warned that the US military presence in Kosovo could be reduced in the future, stressing that the country should prepare for such a scenario. In an interview with journalist Rosalba Bejdo on the “Rretheqark” show on A2CNN, he suggested that Albania as a NATO country could play a greater role in guaranteeing Kosovo’s security.

" I would like to see more American troops in Kosovo and they would stay, but I would not be surprised if there were a withdrawal. You have to get used to living with this fact. You may know that Albania, being a member of NATO, can put more troops in Kosovo and guard its neighbor. Important for Kosovo is membership in NATO and the EU. Membership in NATO would solve many problems. Serbia is fulfilling the objectives of its Serbian world and no one is waiting for Kosovars to move and people should understand this, that the world keeps moving. Having a year and a half to have stable governance, the world is not going to stop, and what situation will you face after this political stalemate. The disadvantages of such a situation should also be seen. Kosovo should lobby to enter NATO as soon as possible as a well-qualified army. Is it happening today? It is difficult to say, for NATO to accept a new member without a stable government ."

Serwer also raised the alarm about Serbia's intentions towards Kosovo, stating that President Aleksandar Vučić is waiting for a favorable geopolitical moment to take at least northern Kosovo.

" It is clear that Serbia under Vučić is waiting for a geopolitical opportunity in which they can take at least the north of Kosovo, because it has no intention of taking the rest of Kosovo, as it would face a guerrilla war that would be devastating for Serbia ."
