Rubio to Congress: US plan envisions end of Hamas and new administration in Gaza

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has told Congress that the Trump administration's plan for Gaza aims to end Hamas rule and establish a new administration in the territory.
He stated that according to this plan, Gaza after the war should not be run by Hamas, but by another authority that is not related to this organization.
Rubio spoke during a hearing at the Capitol, where he was also asked about Israel's position, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned the possibility of taking control of a large part of the Gaza Strip during military operations.
According to Rubio, this idea is not part of the 20-point US plan to end the war in Gaza. He added that the US goal is to stop the conflict and create conditions for the reconstruction of the area after the fighting ends.
He also added that a long-term solution would be a Gaza run by an authority not affiliated with Hamas.
