Today the final files for the former KLA leaders are being submitted to 'Special'

Today, the final files for the court case against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army will be submitted to the Special Court in The Hague, a key step in a process that has lasted several years and has attracted the attention of public opinion not only in Kosovo but also in the international arena.
This case involves four former senior KLA leaders, including former President Hashim Thaçi, former Speaker of Parliament Kadri Veseli, as well as Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, all accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the last conflict in Kosovo from March 1998 to September 1999.
The Special Process was established with the support of the European Union and aims to investigate and prosecute alleged crimes committed during and after the war in Kosovo, focusing on the highest-ranking KLA figures.
This trial has caused mixed reactions in Kosovo, with some seeing it as an important step towards international justice while others criticizing it as a challenge to the image of the war for independence.
International observers and the media are carefully following developments in The Hague and it is expected that this phase will have a major impact on political and legal discussions related to the past of the conflict and regional relations.
The Kosovo Liberation Army quartet has been in The Hague since November 2020, having not been offered any opportunity for release from detention until this stage of the proceedings.
After the conclusion of the closing arguments, the judges will have a period of three months to announce the first-instance decision, with the possibility of an extension for another two months.
