Former Kosovo Finance Minister passes away

Ali Sadriu, one of the well-known figures of institutional and political life in Kosovo, who held important state and managerial positions during his career, has passed away at the age of 75.

The news of his death was announced by his immediate family, while the official announcement was published by his son, Flamur Sadriu, through social networks. In his message, he expressed his deep sorrow for the loss of his father, noting that the family will inform in time about the funeral ceremony.

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved father, Ali Shaban Sadriu, passed away today. We will announce the details of the funeral ceremony later,"  wrote Flamur Sadriu.

A life dedicated to public service

Ali Sadriu was a well-known name in Kosovo's institutions, especially in the field of finance and public administration. According to biographical data published on the official website of the Kosovo Assembly, he has held several important positions over the decades.

He has been a member of parliament for the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) in several consecutive legislatures, representing this party in the periods 1992–1998, 1998–2002, 2002–2004, 2004–2008 and 2011–2014. During his parliamentary engagement, Sadriu was part of key institutional processes in sensitive periods for the country.

In the years 2002–2004, Ali Sadriu held the position of Minister of Economy and Finance, being part of the government during an important phase of building Kosovo's financial institutions. Also, from 2000 to 2002, he served as co-director of the Central Fiscal Authority.

Long experience in management and healthcare

In addition to his political engagement, Ali Sadriu also had a long managerial career. He served as the executive director of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), one of the most important health institutions in the country.

Previously, he worked as a financial director in several institutions and enterprises, including the Faculty of Medicine in the period 1977–1980, Bankos from 1980 to 1990, as well as the Electric Tools and Equipment Factory during the years 1975–1977.

Ali Sadriu will be remembered as a long-serving official who contributed to various areas of public life, from finance and economics, to health and the legislature. His passing leaves a void for his family, friends and colleagues, while Kosovo's institutions lose one of the generational figures who has been active in their construction and functioning for many years.
