Actor and director of the "Migjeni" Theater, Edmond Mhilli, passes

The well-known Shkodran actor and director, Edmond Mhilli, has passed away at the age of 79.

"With deep sadness we announce the passing of the well-known actor and director of the "Migjeni" theater, Edmond Mhilli! Our sincere condolences go to the family and the community of artists. Tributes will take place tomorrow, January 10th from 9 am to 12 pm, in the lobby of the "Migjeni" theater," reads an official reaction from the Migjeni Theater.

Director of the "Migjeni" Theater, was born in Shkodra on August 23, 1947. In 1970, he graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts. In the period 1970-1974, he worked as a director in Puka and then for 15 years in the Shkodra Estrada from 1974-1989.

He also worked at Radio Shkodra, at the House of Culture of the Shkodra district, and after 2003 at the "Migjeni" Theater.

He stood out as a director for his good taste, the extensive introduction of the long sketch and one-act comedy into the Shkodra Stage repertoire, and his directorial concepts also included careful work with words and gestures, the realistic handling of comic situations, his insistence on the authenticity of the characters, and a generally "collected" mise-en-scène, without excessive movements.

His series of shows titled "Smile Days" in the years 1983-1984 won First Prize, while a season later in 1985-1986 it was considered the best in the humor meetings between professional variety shows held in the city of Shkodra.

The Shkodran director has also written several stage plays, most notably the drama "A Simple Story". Among the many plays that bear his direction is the one after the 2000s, "The Morning Star".
