Second, Albania does not represent any economic interest for the US due to the Lilliputian dimensions of our economy. A good private university in the US has a budget equal to Albania's GDP. Some as much as twice that.
Third, the current conflict with the US does not come for economic reasons, but because Albanian organized crime is one of the main sources that supplies the US market with Latin American drugs. Even if Rama makes Albania a neighborhood of Beijing, the drug problem will continue to be with the US.
Fourth, I do not know Albanians who want to replace the US with China. America has been much more than an ally, because an ally is considered someone who has similar weight to you. America has been the major sponsor of the independence of Albania and Kosovo. In the darkest days of communism, we secretly listened to the Voice of America. The basic hope of every Albanian whenever we face great evils that we cannot solve on our own is "America will save us". The Chinese can relatively penetrate countries with a neutral or anti-American spirit, but their expansion has no space in a country where almost every family, including the author of this status, has at least one family member in the US (I myself have about 15).
It is our duty as Albanians, in obligation of historical gratitude and above all of the major national interest, not to tolerate such "threats" being made in our name.
