Washington sets deadline for peace in Ukraine, Bloomberg: Trump wants result by

Bloomberg has reported, citing NATO allies, that the United States is reportedly aiming to end the Russian-Ukrainian war by July 4, a date that coincides with US Independence Day.

Without giving details of the sources, the agency notes that Washington would like to reach a peace agreement on the war in Ukraine within this deadline. However, according to the report, NATO allies have expressed skepticism about achieving such a time target.

"Allies say the US is pushing for a deal before Donald Trump hosts celebrations of the 250th anniversary of American independence on July 4. But there is no indication that Russian President Vladimir Putin is willing to accept a deal that does not meet his central demands," senior European and NATO officials were quoted as saying.

According to Bloomberg's sources, even some American officials, in private conversations, admit that they see no signs that Putin is ready to retreat from his maximalist positions.

Trump returned to office as president in January 2025, promising to quickly end the full-scale war started by Russia. However, more than a year of diplomatic efforts by the US have not yielded results, due to Moscow's demands over the Donbas region and control over the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe.
