US at UN: We did not invade Venezuela! We arrested Maduro, a drug trafficker

“As Secretary Rubio has stated, there is no war against Venezuela or its people. We are not invading a country. It has been a police operation to enforce legitimate charges that have existed for decades ,” said Mike Waltz, the permanent representative of the United States to the UN, during his speech at the Security Council meeting on Venezuela.

"The US has arrested a drug trafficker who will now be tried in the United States, in accordance with the rule of law, for crimes committed against our people for 15 years. A similar action was taken in 1989 against Manuel Noriega.
He was arrested, indicted, convicted by the court and served his prison sentence both in the United States and in Panama," Waltz explained, writes La Repubblica.

During the session, UN Deputy Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo read a statement on behalf of Secretary-General António Guterres expressing his deep concern about the lack of respect for the rules of international law, particularly with regard to the actions of the United States in Venezuela.

Meanwhile in New York, dozens of protesters have gathered outside the courthouse.

They are cheering in Spanish, while the number of pro-Maduro protesters appears to outnumber that of anti-Maduro demonstrators.
