Thomas Strakosha does not hide: I respect Greece, but I am an Albanian from Himara

Thomas Strakosha is not hiding, on the contrary. He proudly says that he is an Albanian from Himara.
Born and raised in Athens, he admits that many Albanians hide their origins.
"I often meet kids at the AEK Academy. They come to meet me and tell me they are Albanian. This makes me proud. I respect Greece, my origin is from Himara and I am proud to be Albanian," the red and black goalkeeper told Athletico.gr.
The podcast he participated in also talked about his father, Foto Strakosha, in whose footsteps 30-year-old Thomas is following.
He took his first steps at APOEL (in Nicosia) before moving on to Panionios (in Athens) and Lazio (in Rome).
It was in the capital city of the Apennines that Strakosha made his professional debut. After 9 years in Serie A, he moved to Brentford in England.
He returned to his homeland in 2024 where he signed for AEK Athens, where he still plays today.
Currently, Thomas Strakosha is one of the 5 most successful goalkeepers in the 15 major championships.
He has kept 22 clean sheets in all competitions this calendar year.
