Residents of the village of Çiflik in Dimali have come out in protest and denounce the blockage of canals. They have raised concerns that measures are not being taken in the area to prevent flooding, and they also stressed that they have been pressured not to unblock the canal that risks drowning the village.
They also add that none of the municipality representatives are coming to provide solutions.
"We want the bridge to open. We are drowning. I call on the prime minister to withdraw the police from here. We are being pressured... They should intervene, there was a gate here."
Another citizen has raised concerns, saying that it should be opened immediately because the entire village is at risk of flooding.
"There was a gate here. The police were stationed here. They wouldn't let me in. The canal is blocked and the gate needs to be opened. Because it's for unloading," said a citizen.
"These are criminals. They are drowned in corruption. In no country in the world are canals closed. I've been here for 80 years and we've never been flooded. The river has never come... We will stay here today because if we leave, they will come and block it," said another citizen.
