Venezuela's Attorney General: Maduro enjoys immunity, US has no jurisdiction

Venezuela's Attorney General, Tarek Saab, has declared that the United States does not have legal jurisdiction to prosecute former President Nicolás Maduro, emphasizing that he enjoys international immunity due to the function he held as head of state.
In a public statement on Tuesday, Saab called on the US judge overseeing the so-called "narcoterrorism" case against Maduro to recognize the lack of US jurisdiction over Venezuelan territory and the former president's immunity status.
According to the Attorney General, US authorities have no legal basis for criminal prosecution, as Maduro, as a former head of state, is protected by the principles of international law.
Meanwhile, Saab announced that three prosecutors have been assigned to investigate deaths that occurred during the US military operation that, according to Venezuelan authorities, led to Maduro's removal from power over the weekend.
