Israel bombs southern and eastern Lebanon after calls for evacuation

The Israeli Armed Forces have bombed areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, after earlier issuing calls for the evacuation of several communities, stating that the targets of the operation were Hezbollah and Hamas infrastructure.

According to official reports, Colonel Avihai Andrai, the Israeli army's spokesman for the Arabic-speaking public, called for the evacuation of four communities in a post on the X platform. The communities mentioned were Kfar Hata and Annan in the south of the country, as well as Al-Manara and Ain al-Tina in the east. The message was accompanied by maps of the areas involved, while residents were warned that staying in these areas posed a risk to their lives.

An AFP photographer reported seeing dozens of families fleeing the Kfar Hata community shortly before the attacks began, as drones flew over the area.

International media emphasize that, despite a ceasefire agreed after more than a year of hostilities and supposedly taking effect in November 2024, the Israeli army has continued attacks and operations in various parts of Lebanon, mainly in the south, stating that it is targeting Hezbollah and Hamas positions.

Israeli troops also remain deployed at five points in southern Lebanon, which are considered strategically important. According to Lebanese Health Ministry data, cited by AFP, at least 350 people have been killed by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire came into effect.
