US diplomats arrive in Venezuela, gradual reopening of embassy assessed

A United States State Department team, consisting of diplomatic and security personnel, traveled to the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, today.
This is the first such visit since the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and marks an important step in relations between the two countries, reports skynews.
According to a State Department spokesperson, the team's stay in Caracas is aimed at assessing the possibility of resuming US embassy operations in the country.
This move indicates a US interest in reviewing the diplomatic presence and assessing the political and security situation in the country.
The State Department ordered the removal of US embassy staff from Venezuela in 2019, due to deep political tensions and security challenges. Since then, diplomatic ties between the two countries have been minimal, and this visit could be a sign of a possible opening of more direct dialogue.
Meanwhile, Venezuela announced on Friday the start of an "exploratory diplomatic process" with the United States.
