"UFO" escaped from the Opera prison in Italy, Italian media: Taulant Toma has been putting Europe at risk for 10 years!

Toma, known by the Italian police as "UFO" due to his escapes, has once again managed to successfully escape. Taulant Toma, Italian media reports, a dangerous Albanian robber whose sentence ends in 2041, escaped between the night and the early hours of Sunday morning.
Taulant, 41, considered extremely dangerous and with a criminal history spanning Italy and Europe, managed to escape from the Opera Prison (Milan), a maximum security prison.
According to what Il Fatto Quotidino has learned, the man cut the bars of his cell and then got out, taking advantage of the darkness and perhaps a favorable moment during the officers' shift change. The escape appears to be precise, planned and extremely fast.
A history of robberies, escapes and violence
Born on June 9, 1984, in Albania, Toma Taulant was serving a long sentence for robbery and theft, with a final sentence of 2041. He is no stranger to spectacular escapes: his ability to disappear has already challenged Italian and Belgian law enforcement.
He had previously escaped from Parma prison (also a maximum security facility) with his compatriot Frokaj Vamenti, who was later killed by a jeweler during a villa robbery. Frokaj, on the other hand, had previously escaped from Palermo prison. Taulant was also the protagonist of a sensational escape to Belgium, where European authorities have considered him a high-risk individual for years.
One episode in his criminal history stands out, causing controversy among Italian prosecutors in 2013. After escaping from a Parma prison, Taulant was a fugitive and wanted. Italian police searched for him for forty days, conducting surveillance, traveling to other cities, and conducting wiretaps and phone calls.
It was only on 23 October 2013 that the Parma prosecutor's office learned that he had been arrested in Belgium on 11 September and was now being held in Liège awaiting extradition. The prosecutor's office itself described this as "paradoxical" and requested clarification from the Ministries of the Interior and Justice.
New escape: the search is underway throughout Lombardy
Now history is repeating itself, in an even more delicate context. The fugitive is considered capable of moving quickly, with experience in evading controls and a network of contacts that have not yet been verified. The prefecture has activated a comprehensive search plan: patrols, checkpoints, searches in fields and industrial areas, as well as internal border controls. The fear is that Taulant is already trying to leave Italy or join criminal groups active in Northern Europe./Il Fatto Quotidiano
