But alongside the businesses targeted by the government, which we face on a daily basis, another type of business has flourished in recent years, which is served in the form of a spectacle, with staged lights, music, and enthusiasm.
Halls are filling up and people are looking for quick solutions, while public figures have turned this massive interest into the best way to lend a hand to individuals who need to grow emotionally and financially.
One of the most well-known figures as a motivator of the masses is Ermal Mamaqi, a well-known figure in Albanian showbiz, who has had a career as a DJ, comedian, singer, producer and even a businessman in the gastronomy sector.
In fact, the bar that Mamaqi tried to open in the capital did not survive long, and the ambitious owner had to close it without leaving a trace.
Things that happen in such a wild market of Tirana, where at every step you take there are luxury restaurants. However, immediately after this unsuccessful experiment in business, the former actor turned to a completely different field: motivational training. Seminars, speeches about success, strategies for personal and professional achievements — all of this structured in the form of a package that promises transformation.
A beautifully packaged reality, but one that hides another side, one that the stage lights don't show. Training packages with Mamaqin come at a considerable price, a financial investment that many participants make with the conviction that change begins right there.
But there is another package, completely informal, which does not pass through the tax authorities' sieve at all.
Cash in hand, but no receipt is given, by a girl at the stand who only stuffs envelopes full. And this happens in a very busy area of Tirana, where the eyes and ears of the institutions are supposed to be more attentive.
A practice that raises many questions about the methods of how this individual operates, in a public activity that is advertised on social networks, television and everywhere, but at the same time committing tax evasion in the middle of Tirana. A few meters away from a fruit and vegetable shop or a pastry shop, who are fined even for a single tax coupon.
Tax evasion cannot be measured by the big and the small, nor by ordinary people or famous people. It is a phenomenon that must be cracked down on, and for this the government deserves applause, but when such a large activity, long warned about, is carried out informally, then the question naturally arises...
