Suspected of killing his 24-year-old daughter in Tirana, the prosecution takes Fadi Alwan to trial. The 49-year-old Palestinian risks life imprisonment

The Tirana Prosecution Office completed the investigation into Palestinian Fadi Alwan and brought him to trial for the murder of his daughter, 24-year-old Rayyan Alwan.
He will be tried on the charge of "Murder under qualifying circumstances", an offense that carries a sentence of life imprisonment.
The Tirana Court has declared Fadi Alwan, the 49-year-old Palestinian accused of murdering his daughter, Rayyan Alwan, 22, in February 2025 in Tirana, to be deported from the country.
The decision was made after the Lebanese judiciary refused to extradite to Albania the suspected perpetrator, who was arrested in this country on April 23, 2025.
Through a letter dated 18.09.2025, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs informed that the Republic of Lebanon has refused to extradite the 49-year-old to Albania.
The father and daughter came from Germany to Tirana in February 2025. The murder occurred in the apartment they rented and was discovered a few days later by the apartment owner, after the man had fled to Lebanon.
The motives for this serious crime remain a mystery. The young mother of three was divorced, and the children lived in Lebanon with their father. In Germany, Rayyan Alwan started a new life, and her approach to Western traditions is suspected to have caused the 24-year-old's ongoing problems with her family, parents and brothers.
The girl had also filed a complaint with the police in Germany about these concerns. Investigators still suspect that her mother was involved in the plan to kill the girl, however, convincing evidence is still lacking for this track.
