Calendar with official holidays, how many days of vacation we will have during 2026

Official holidays constitute an important element of national identity, as they are directly related to the history, traditions, and beliefs of a society.
Albania has a defined calendar of public holidays, which includes both officially sanctioned religious and national holidays.
According to the official calendar of the Bank of Albania for 2025, a total of 15 official holidays, as well as 2 special days off, are marked in the country.
In this context, the Council of Ministers has decided that Friday, December 26, will also be declared a holiday for the public administration, thus extending the Christmas holiday period.
Since December 25th is an official holiday, the public administration benefits from two consecutive days off, while institutions will return to normal work the following Monday.
For the year 2026, the preliminary calendar of official holidays, also published by the Bank of Albania, again foresees 15 official holidays. Referring to the analysis of "Scan Intel", of these holidays, 6 are of a religious nature, while 9 are non-religious holidays.
Compared to other countries in the world, Albania is considered a country with a relatively low number of official holidays.
But at the European level, the country ranks among the countries with the most public holidays. In the region, Kosovo has a total of 12 official holidays, while Albania ranks behind Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have 16 and 23 days of holidays, respectively.
Official holidays are not just days off, but also moments that reflect the cultural, historical and religious identity of Albanian society, serving as a unifying element and as an opportunity to preserve traditions across generations.
