The Basha Model, a party full of "non grata" and a Prime Minister with the morality of theft

The Democratic Party has ended up in a state that no one would have imagined, an arena of clashes, mutual accusations and moral decline. The open war between Flamur Noka and Ervin Salianja is not simply a personal conflict. It is a reflection of a party that has lost its orientation, moral compass and self-respect.
What we hear today are no longer simply political retorts. They are serious, open accusations, where Flamur Noka attacks Ervin Salianji for links to crime, while Salianji returns the same coin. Two exponents of the same party have chosen to use the same weapon against each other, public smear, moral discredit and total delegitimization. This does not only speak about them as individuals, but speaks more about what a miserable state the Democratic Party has fallen into today.
Salianji goes even further, publicly asking Noka if he “can cross the ocean”. But the truth is that he knew very well what he was getting into when he joined the DP after the big rift, who he was supporting and that he himself was rewarded with leadership positions but was also delegated the leadership of the Elbasan region by a chairman who today is actually unable to travel across the ocean. Therefore, it does not matter whether Flamur can travel to Britain or not, you yourself chose to become part of a party, a farce that could never overthrow Edi Rama but that projected its own political degradation as a result of the confrontation with SPAK and the closed door of the USA.
Today, at a time when Edi Rama faces daily public accusations of problematic connections or influences with figures from the criminal world, this debate cannot be closed with empty rhetoric. When Agas's car is included in the Prime Minister's escort, when the circle of power is mixed with crime, Albania needs different models.
In the DP, there are many things you can say against Lulzim Basha, political mistakes? Without a doubt. Delayed decisions, yes. But there is one fact that even his harshest critics admit: Basha never sat down at the table with crime. He even excluded the Laçi MP who was "left to fish" by Berisha on the 2013 lists. With his strengths and weaknesses, Basha maintained a moral red line in relation to crime, because a politician who sees crime as an equal party is, in essence, a degraded politician.
One could say that “Basha is finished politically”. That may be so. But the model he represented, distance from crime, respect for the rules, correct relationship with internationals, is needed by the DP more than ever. Albania needs this model, because we cannot be led by the kakistrocracy, by the model where scum and crime lead and decide our destinies because in a battle with pigs, you are always the one who gets dirty.
Today, the DP is a broken mirror, and each piece reflects a particular crisis, a crisis of leadership, a crisis of morality, a crisis of vision. If this party does not return to the model of principled politics, it risks becoming an isolating, self-contained, and irrelevant structure.
Albania needs an opposition that stands tall in morals and causes, not an opposition that drags itself in the mud of accusations. For these reasons, the basic standard must be restored, the defense of justice and relations with the US are sacred. Only in this way can the opposition regain its lost dignity and Albania gain a different model in governance.
