Rama speaks after visits to Abu Dhabi and Athens: Greece will help us towards

Prime Minister Edi Rama started this Sunday's podcast, which focused on his visits to Abu Dhabi and Athens, where he participated in the Delphi Economic Forum. In his speech, the head of government emphasized that the visit to Abu Dhabi, where he met with President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, was a visit of solidarity, at a very sensitive moment for his country and the region involved in the conflict as a result of the Tehran attack.

The Prime Minister emphasized the Emirates' continued support, including assistance after the earthquake in Durrës and strategic projects in the country.

Later, in Athens, Rama participated in the Delphi Economic Forum, where he met with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis. They discussed the progress of bilateral relations and the commitment to address outstanding issues between the two countries.

Rama expressed optimism about strengthening the strategic partnership with Greece and its support for Albania's path to European integration. He also stressed the importance of caring for the Greek minority in Albania and for Albanians living in Greece, as part of strengthening relations between the two countries.

Visit to Abu Dhabi and Delphi Economic Forum

1- This week I had a short visit to Abu Dhabi and then to Greece. Two stops related to two aspects of the relationship and the international position of Albania. In Abu Dhabi I went to meet a very valuable and experienced friend of Albania and Albanians, but also one of the most respected leaders in the world today who I have the honor to consider my friend, President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, at a very sensitive moment for his country and for that region involved in a conflict as a result of the attack on the criminal regime of Tehran. It was a visit of solidarity, a visit to confirm the brotherhood that connects us with that country and those countries and on the other hand the belief that the Emirates will overcome this phase and emerge stronger from this great challenge.

I am not exaggerating anything when I say that the President of the United Arab Emirates is a valuable and tried friend of Albania and the Albanians, since since his youth he has come to Albania not for tourism or for a formal meeting, but to lead the group sent by his father, the late Sheikh Zayed, to help those Albanians who abandoned their homes in Kosovo and flocked to Albania and stayed in large numbers in Kukës, to escape the murderous machine of Slobodan Milosevic. And since then, a relationship has been built with that country, with that people and with that great man that in the last 10 years has taken on a completely different dimension.

It was precisely the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who ordered the disbursement of the largest solidarity fund with Albania after the earthquake, and with that fund an entire model neighborhood was built in Durrës.

On the other hand, we are also connected to the United Arab Emirates by work and projects of a strategic nature, but also of a nature that has to do with the growth and strengthening of Albania on the path of its modernization.

I am very pleased to confirm that from the President and the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, I once again received an extremely positive energy for Albania and confirmation that our friendship is becoming stronger and that our alliance will be strengthened step by step with more cooperation, more projects and more rapprochement between our states and peoples.

The stop in Athens was of a different nature, but again related to what I said at the beginning of the meeting, to Albania's position and to the desire to see Albania represented at the highest level and to hear our positions and opinions, especially in this case, in an economic forum with an international reputation and prestige, where due to its neighborhood and history, Albania had a special place on that platform, where the main directions of global development, but also of regional development and in this case also of the relationship with the neighboring country, are discussed.

I went to participate in the forum, but I had the pleasure of being received by the Prime Minister of Greece and a valued friend, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with whom we took stock of the progress of the work of the joint group we have established to provide a final answer to all the issues raised and to take the interstate relationship between Albania and Greece to a new level.

I am very pleased to say that on the part of the Prime Minister there is an absolute will to address with priority all the issues brought forward to confirm within this year, through a new strategic partnership document, the very special nature of the relationship between the two countries and on the other hand to support Albania as always, with the exception of some difficult moments, on its path to membership in the European Union.

And, having said all this, I am very optimistic and at the same time very confident that thanks to the personal commitment of Prime Minister Mitsotakis, we will be able to address the outstanding issues and will further strengthen our relationship through special care, both for the Greek minority in Albania and for Albanians in Greece.
