Shooting at Trump dinner, Kallas: Political violence has no place in a democracy

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, has reacted to the shootings recorded during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel in a post on "X". Kallas writes that political violence has no place in a democracy.
She added that events intended to honor a free press should never become a scene of fear.
"Relieved that all attendees, including President Trump, are safe after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Political violence has no place in a democracy. An event intended to honor a free press should never become a scene of fear. I wish the wounded officer a speedy recovery," Kallas wrote.
Gunshots were heard at the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner. The dinner had just begun when a loud commotion was heard at the entrance to the hall.
The attendees immediately lay on the floor. The President and First Lady Melania Trump, who had been seated at the center table in an elevated position facing the guests, were removed by security guards.
Secret service agents entered the room heavily armed. Security forces then ordered the guests, journalists, ministers, politicians and various personalities, to leave the large hall located in the first basement of the hotel. The perpetrator of the incident was immediately arrested while the investigation continues.
Relieved that everyone who attended, including President Trump, are safe after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
