Trial for the 'Partizani' file, Balla is questioned about the report:

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, is testifying at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) in the trial being held for the "Partizani" file, with former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi and other persons as defendants.

He was summoned to court at the request of SPAK, in the capacity of a complainant. Asked by the Special Prosecution to clarify what he relied on to file the complaint, Balla stressed that since 2012 there had been suspicions that the procedure for the privatization of the sports complex had been carried out in violation, adding that family and state connections had been used for the procedure.

He emphasized that the sports complex was removed from the expansion plan and that the recognition and privatization of the building was done in a short time.

SPAK: Can you explain to us the allegations regarding your complaint and where you based them?

Balla: Since 2012 and onwards, I have expressed my doubts regarding the manner in which the procedure for the privatization of the Partizani sports complex was carried out. According to the suspicions, this privatization process was not carried out according to legal procedures as I suspected that family and state connections were exploited. Within a short time, the recognition and privatization of the building was carried out. A sports complex was removed from the development plan and the complaint was accompanied by evidence. I requested an investigation into why it was removed from the development plan.

We recall that Berisha is accused by SPAK of having undertaken legal changes to benefit his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, enabling the latter to build a company business from which he benefited 5.4 million euros.
