The Supreme Court leaves him in prison, Kryemadhi defends Meta: There is no

The Special Court completed the preliminary examination of the criminal case against the former President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, and co-defendants.

The decision on whether or not to proceed with the trial of the file, or to return it to SPAK for completion of the investigation, will be announced on March 18 at 10:00. In Thursday's session, former president Meta once again rejected SPAK's accusations against him, that of "corruption", "money laundering" and "hiding assets", considering them unfounded.

"I have lived a simple life, not a life of luxury," Meta said. "I have not drunk 33,000 euros of wine or traveled by charter." Outside the courtroom, his ex-wife, Kryemadhi, also appeared at his side, claiming that SPAK's accusations are based only on perceptions and indications, not on criminal facts.

On Thursday, Ilir Meta received another negative response from the Supreme Court, in an attempt to be released from detention. This court decided not to accept a recourse made by him.

Earlier, on the same day, the Special Court was to review a request by the former president for a replacement measure, but Meta withdrew from the request. Meanwhile, on April 8, the Constitutional Court is expected to review Meta's request for freedom.
